John Andersen: John joined the Reference Attorneys in April of 2005. He has assisted thousands of students, professors, and members of large firms with researching legal issues ranging from Administrative Law to Workers Compensation. John has also participated in research projects completing jury verdict research as part of West’s acquisition of Trials Digest. John also has participated in search construction for NetScan customers.
Allison Burns: Allison has been a Reference Attorney since January. She is interested in criminal and property law. In her spare time she volunteers for several Twin Cities organizations and is training for the Minnesota half-marathon.
Michael Carlson (Editor): Mike has been a Reference Attorney over four years. Prior to joining the RSAs, Mike practiced in the areas of business and intellectual propery law. Mike maintains an office at the Center for Performing Arts, Minneapolis . Here, he serves pro-bono and low-bono clients in trademark and copyright matters. Mike is one of the editors for this blog and the RSA IP Research Blog.
Tedd Cheney: Tedd grew up and attended college in St. Paul, but wanted to leave the state for law school, so he went to the University of Kentucky. Tedd has been with the Reference Attorney department for eight years, and before that clerked for a Minnesota court for a couple of years. In his spare time, he likes to volunteer as much as possible, and to spend as much time as possible outside with his wife and 2-year-old son.
Todd Diede: Todd has been a West Reference Attorney since December 1, 2008. He is a graduate of Chicago-Kent College of Law. He left the Windy City for his home state of Minnesota following law school. He is a life-long Minnesota Twins fan who is ablsolutely enamored with the new Twins ballpark, Target Field.
Greg Gerik (Editor): Greg joined the Reference Attorneys in February 2008 with a background in corporate law in a position with a small technology firm. In his spare time he consults with small businesses on leveraging social media, practices divorce mediation and enjoys photography.
Casey Hall (Editor): Casey joined the West Reference Attorneys in February of 2008. Originally from Wisconsin, he completed both his undergraduate and law school studies in Minneapolis. In law school he authored an article on the use the of the ‘slippery slope’ argument in public policy debates. Casey generally avoids hobbies but recently began taking Taekwondo classes with his eight year old son.
Savita Harjani: Savita has been a Reference Attorney for over four years. Prior to joining the Reference Attorneys, Savita practiced in the areas of business providing strategic legal management consulting to start-ups. In her volunteer life, Savita serves on the board of the Minnesota Chapter of ARCS – Achievement Rewards for College Scientists.
Ryan Harrington: Prior to joining the Reference Attorneys, Ryan enjoyed working for a legal-aid firm, a state court judge, and a large insurance company. His mom consistently reminds him that simple is better when working with technology and he applies this theory when discussing both the easy and complex tools available to attorneys. He currently follows USSupremeCourt, LearnWestlaw, and SesameStreet (Those puppets are ingenious!) and many others on Twitter.
Julie Huinker: Julie has been a Reference Attorney since August of 2008. Her professional interests include labor and employment law, product liability, and legal ethics. In her free time, she enjoys cooking, working in her garden, and playing volleyball.
Esmond Kim: Esmond Kim has been with the West Reference Attorney department since August 2008. Before that, Esmond worked in complex discovery and motion practice. He attended law school at Suffolk University in Boston, Massachusetts.
Alisha M.: Alisha has been a Reference Attorney for a little over two years. She worked or interned at various state agencies throughout Minnesota. She enjoys relaxing on the lake and reading.
Janelle Moneypenny: Janelle graduated from William Mitchell College of Law in June 2004. She has been a Reference Attorney for almost 3 years. Before becoming an RSA, she practiced estate planning as a solo practitioner.
Jessica Nelson: Jessica has been a West Reference Attorney since January 2010. She enjoys helping other hunt down the materials they need. When Jessica is not on Westlaw she likes play golf and visit friends.
Gregg Severson: Gregg joined the Reference Attorney department in 2005. Gregg attended the University of Michigan, where he got both a J.D. and a M.S. in Natural Resources and the Environment. As you might guess, he is very interested in environmental law and administrative law. He enjoys spending lots of time outside and bikes to work at least once a week year round.
Susan Stanley: Susan Stanley is a 1990 Magna Cum Laude graduate of William Mitchell College of Law. She was a public defender in Central Minnesota for almost 15 years. Before joining the Reference Attorneys in 2005, Susan also taught Criminal law and Criminal Procedure at a local state college. Susan has a 24 year-old son who lives in D.C. Susan currently resides in the St. Paul area with three freeloading felines that refuse to leave home or seek gainful employment.
Erin Thorman: Erin attended college at Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, MN, and law school at the University of St. Thomas School of Law in Minneapolis, MN. She practiced employment law in Minneapolis before joining the Reference Attorneys. When not working, Erin likes to motorcycle, bicycle, and knit.
Seth Tryninewski: Seth has been a Reference Attorney since 2009. His interested in international human rights law, agricultural policy and their interplay. When he is not at the West Reference Desk or down on the farm, he is playing with Kiowa, his greyhound rescue dog.
Diane Yonga: has been a Reference Attorney for 16 years. Prior to joining West, Diane did a short stint as a solo practitioner in the area of Family Law. Prior to graduating from the University of Minnesota Law School, she was as a Registered Dietitian working with children and adolescents in the areas of clinical dietetics, weight loss and eating disorders.
Greg Van Gompel: Greg has been a Reference Attorney at West since August 2001. In June of 2003, Greg become part of a group of attorneys providing topical assistance such as Bankruptcy, Tax, and Insurance, together with providing support for West software products such as Chap7..13, DWTA, Cowles, DissoMaster and Divorce Planner. Besides his work at West, Greg has been Legal Counsel to the National Amusement Park Historical Association (NAPHA) since 1990 and he provides his attorney services to other non-profit entities including the Savage Arts Council and the Suburban Home-Based Business Association. Prior to joining West, Greg was been in-house General Counsel responsible for a transportation company’s safety and environmental compliance together with its insurance procurement. He has also directed its employee benefit program, collected and sued on its delinquent accounts receivable including appearances in bankruptcy court, and drafted financing documents. Greg is also a contributor to the Bemusement blog for Blooloop.com
