WestlawNext is proud to sponsor the ABA’s “Make Your Likes Count” sweepstakes, benefiting ABA Charities.
How can you help make a difference? From now until May 15, 2012, visit the American Bar Association’s Facebook page; “like” the page and select one of three ABA Charities. The ABA will contribute a dime for each selection the charity receives. To help drive excitement and participation in the program, WestlawNext has donated 18 tablet computers to be raffled off to those who participate and select one of the designated ABA Charities.
The three ABA Charities benefiting from the promotion include:
Homeless Veterans Initiative
On any given night, approximately 40% of our country’s homeless population is military veterans. The Homeless Veterans Initiative, through a partnership with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, is helping to develop Veterans Treatment Courts across the country.
By providing technical assistance to judges and lawyers about the unique issues affecting former service members, the Commission is helping veterans receive the legal services needed to reconnect with their community.
Celebrating more than 50 successful years, Law Day (May 1) has provided the perfect way to bring citizens together to engage in meaningful conversations about the law.
Educators, civic leaders, lawyers and judges collaborate on programming that reaches more than 25 million people each year.
The ABA Division for Public Education designs Law Day programming, publications and resources to inform citizens so they are better equipped to meet the challenge of productive engagement in our democracy.
Permanency Barriers Project
The ABA Center for Children and the Law developed the Permanency Barriers Project to help reduce the time children spend in foster care and aid in their transition to adulthood.
The ABA Fund for Justice and Education, a 501(c) (3) charitable fund, supports over 200 ABA public service and educational programs each year. These programs exemplify just a few of the ways the ABA and its members are addressing the legal needs of our communities.
