November 14, 2011

Tip of the WeekWith WestlawNext®, it’s easier than ever to use KeyCite® to determine whether or not a case, statute, administrative decision, or regulation is good law. In the search box, simply enter the KeyCite command followed by the citation. The search box will recognize any of the following commands:

Command syntax: Keycite < citation >

                           Keycite: < citation >

                           kc < citation >

                           kc: < citation >

The KeyCite command will take you directly to the KeyCite results for the citation, bypassing the initial document display that would occur if you entered the citation alone. WestlawNext will display the Negative Treatment, History, or Citing References for the citation; you may then use the tabs to access other available KeyCite information, such as Filings.
