WESTLAW NEXT Tip of the Week: Document Navigation Tools

Tip of the WeekUse these time-saving features to navigate documents on WestlawNext® and get directly to the material you are looking for.

Go to

Use the Go to button to quickly jump to a specific location within the document you’re viewing. The Go to button is in the document toolbar at the top of the page.

Click the Go to button for a menu of optionsClick the Go to button for a menu of options. Click one of the links and your display will immediately jump to the section you selected. For a particular page within the document, type the page number in the Page # box and click Go. This feature helps you quickly get to the part of the document you want to see without having to scroll through the portions you do not need.

  Search Text

The Search text button quickly gets you to specific terms within the document you’re viewing. The Search text button is also in the document toolbar at the top of the page.

Once you click the Search text button, a new search box will display directly below the toolbar. Type a Boolean Terms and Connector query into the box and click Search.

Your search terms will now be highlighted in green making them easy to see when you are browsing. The navigation arrows next to the search button will allow you to jump back and forth between the portions of the document that satisfy your search.

Collapse and Expand Sections

Many documents on WestlawNext contain expandable and collapsible sections, making it possible to view as much (or as little) data as you want. Click the Maximize ( Maximize ) icon to expand sections of the document that are relevant. Click the Minimize ( Minimize ) icon to collapse the sections you prefer to skip.
