Structure your Westlaw query to put the chicken before the egg

October 20, 2010

From the Westlaw Reference Attorneys Westlaw tip: Sometimes order is important! Did you know that you can require your terms to appear in a certain order within your search? Searching for chicken +2 egg ensures that the word “chicken” will appear at most two words before the word “egg” in your results. Compare this to the results from chicken /2 egg, which will retrieve documents with the word “chicken” either two words before or after the word “egg.”
