110 Criminal LawAlthough trial court reasonably was galled by the defendant’s behavior and attitude, namely claiming that he was the real victim and that he had been framed by assault victim, who was his wife, in possible retaliation for his pursuit of a divorce, it was demeaning to the integrity of the judiciary to express court’s level of disgust by calling the defendant “a chump” and “a loser,” and similarly, the trial court’s remarks encouraging assault victim to laugh at the defendant were intemperate.
